Famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma performed a concert at the U.S. Mexico border Saturday to the community in Laredo, TX and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico in protest of President Trump’s policy to build a wall. Additionally, Ma performed on the bridge connecting the two countries to promote his mission to “build bridges, not walls.”

The performances were part of what Ma called a “Day of Action.”

“A country is not a hotel and it’s not full,” said Ma.

Following Ma’s performance, Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz presented him with a key to the city.

”It was truly an honor to host the greatest cellist in the world, Yo-Yo Ma. His visit reminds us of how culture connects all of us,” Saenz said.
