VP Harris’ first trip abroad will be to Mexico in June, says Mexican President

After over a month since being named the border czar, Vice President Kamala Harris will leave the country for the first time to visit Mexico, according to Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. Harris will likely visit after Mexican mid-term legislative elections in June.

“We have to regulate migratory flows and we must address the (root) causes, and this means there must be jobs and hope for the people in southeast of Mexico and Central America,” Lopez Obrador said in a press conference. Harris and Lopez Obrador will also speak virtually Friday.

Harris has not held a single press conference to respond to how the administration is going handle the thousands of illegal migrants attempting to enter the United States since the administration rescinded most of President Trump’s previous policies.
