Twitter Doubles Down, Blocks WH Tweet Quoting Pres. Trump’s ‘Fact-Checked’ Tweet

Twitter is doubling down on its efforts to fact check President Donald Trump by blocking a tweet posted Friday by the official White House Twitter account, which quoted the President’s earlier blocked tweet.

“These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen,” the quote tweet read. “Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”

The President’s tweet was in reference to the violent riots in Minneapolis that have erupted after the tragic killing of George Floyd while in police custody.

In response to Twitter’s heavy-handed approach in targeting the President, which they’ve done by issuing warnings on several of his tweets this week, Trump signed an executive order on Thursday to address the growing political bias from Silicon Valley.
