Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said Wednesday that his social platform will no longer allow political advertisements. Dorsey shared the news in a series of tweets.

“We believe political message reach should be earned, not bought,” Dorsey wrote. Further, he listed several reasons for the decision including the users choice to see ads, the platform’s promotion of ads that could potentially influence voting outcomes and mislead users with misinformation.

For now, Twitter plans to only ban candidate ads and not issue ads. The full policy will be released on Nov. 15.
