Breitbart News reported on the President’s press conference from the Oval Office on Tuesday, during which Trump revealed that the selected framework will incorporate advanced technologies spanning land, sea, and space.

“Today, I’m pleased to announce that we have officially selected an architecture for this state-of-the-art system that will deploy next-generation technologies across the land, sea, and space, including space-based sensors and interceptors,” Trump stated. He also mentioned that Canada has shown interest in participating in the initiative. “So we’ll be talking to them. They want to have protection also,” he said. “So, as usual, we help Canada, do the best we can.”

According to Trump, the Golden Dome is expected to be fully operational before the end of his current term. He emphasized the system’s capabilities, saying, “Once fully constructed, the Golden Dome will be capable of intercepting missiles even if they are launched from other sides of the world, and even if they are launched from space, and we will have the best system ever built.”

The president described the Golden Dome as a safeguard against various advanced threats, including cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and hypersonic weapons. He also drew a comparison to President Ronald Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative, highlighting the historical continuity of American missile defense efforts.

Trump is calling on Congress to pass what he referred to as the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which would commit $25 billion in funding to the project. The full cost is expected to total approximately $175 billion, according to the president.

Defense Secretary Hegseth endorsed the plan, referring to it as a “game changer” and describing it as “a generational investment in the security of America and Americans.” He also credited Trump for his foresight in establishing the Space Force during his first term, a move that drew skepticism from some critics.

“It’s not lost on me, sir, also that you had the vision to start the Space Force…when others said we didn’t need it. Here we are in the Oval Office with one of the leaders of the Space Force in General Guetlein, leading the charge on putting in place a game-changing Golden Dome for America,” Hegseth said.
