Trump Threatens To ‘close social media platforms down’ For Silencing Conservatives

On Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to slam social media companies where many conservative voices report feeling ‘totally silenced’ threatening  them with ‘strong regulations.’

Republicans feel that Social Media Platforms totally silence conservative voices,” Trump wrote. “We will strongly regulate, or close them down before we can ever allow this to happen. We saw what they attempted to do, and failed, in 2016. We can’t let a more sophisticated version of that happen again.”

He continued, “Just like we can’t let large scale Mail-in Ballots take root in our country. It would be a free for all on cheating, forgery and the theft of Ballots. Whoever cheated the most would win. Likewise, Social Media. Clean Up your act, NOW!!!”

A thread of the President’s own tweets about mail-in voting was charged Tuesday with violating Twitter’s policies. The social media company said Trump’s statements asserting that the process would lead to “a Rigged Election” were ‘false.’ Moreover, Twitter said Trump ‘falsely’ claimed that in California “anyone living in the state, no matter who they are or how they got there” would receive a ballot.

The Republican National Committee is pursuing lawsuits against states mandating statewide mail-in voting, including in California.

Appearing on Fox News Wednesday, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel labeled California Governor Gavin Newsom’s move an “absolute brazen power grab” that “will inject chaos” into their elections.

She added, “In LA County, alone, there are 1.5 million more registered voters than there are adults in the state because California never cleans up their voter rolls. So there will be ballots littering the street. And if you don’t believe me, look at what’s happening in Nevada.”

The RNC also launched ‘ProtectTheVote.com’ to restore election integrity and crackdown on voter fraud associated with mail-in elections.
