Trump Orders Declassification of all FBI Files on Russia Collusion Investigation

President Donald Trump has directed the declassification of all FBI files related to its investigation into his 2016 presidential campaign’s alleged ties to Russia. The years long witch hunt against Trump became known as ‘Russiagate’.

“This was total weaponization. It’s a disgrace…but now you’ll be able to see for yourselves,” Trump said as he signed the memo to release the files.

Sara Carter was one of the primary investigative journalists who not only covered the accusations that the 2016 Trump campaign had ties to Russia which led to years of the ‘Russiagate’ scandal; Carter broke many of the stories exposing the FBI. In a 2017 appearance on Fox News’ ‘Hannity’ Carter explained how her sources confirmed to her that the FBI unequivocally found zero evidence of any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Findings led to the Inspector General at the DOJ investigating both the FBI and the Department of Justice.

The memorandum calls for the declassification of “all files related to Crossfire Hurricane investigation,” White House staff secretary Will Scharf said just as Trump prepared to sign the order at the White House.

“We believe that it’s long past time for the American people to have a full and complete understanding of what exactly is in those files,” Scharf said.

The Hill reports that the FBI opened the Crossfire Hurricane investigation in July 2016 over whether members of Trump’s campaign were coordinating with Russian officials. The investigation preceded the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller. Mueller ultimately failed to establish that Trump or any members of his campaign coordinated or conspired with Moscow to affect the 2016 presidential election.
