President Donald Trump is expected to strike down an attempt by Senate Republicans to kill his national emergency declaration for a border wall. This comes as Republican lawmakers are expected to vote down his request for the funding Thursday citing separation of powers to limit the president’s authority.

The Republican opposition to Trump’s National Emergency Declaration cited issues with the constitutionality of the executive order. One notable GOP dissenter Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), said in a statement that he is ‘standing up for the separation of powers.’
Democrats are expected to vote unanimously to pass the resolution.
