Appearing on Fox News Wednesday, former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy said, he opposes the release of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report. The expected release of the redacted report is early Thursday.

“The Russian threat was far more than just a threat agains the Democrats, it was a threat to our republic,” said Gowdy.

Gowdy said he doesn’t believe there will be any new information that will change the American people’s minds. According to Gowdy, there’s information that needs to come out that will make this what he called an ‘American issue.’ However, Gowdy said only a small group of people have access to such information. Gowdy called it ‘befuddling’ that the Senate Judiciary Chairman doesn’t have access to such information. Further, he suggested that it rests in the hands of FBI Director Christopher Wray.

Gowdy concluded, “It’s going to do nothing except further entrench people as to where they are today with their positions.”
