Survey: Republicans choose Trump as best president in U.S. history

According to the latest Economist/YouGov survey, Republicans have chosen former President Donald Trump as the best president in U.S. history.

36% of Republicans voted for Trump as the best president, Ronald Reagan followed with 18%, Abraham Lincoln received 13% and George Washington 11%.

In 2018, when the last survey was conducted, Republicans choose Ronald Reagan as the best president.

Reagan received 36% of the Republicans votes in 2018, followed by Trump with 10%. Now, the positions have reversed, with the percentage of Republicans who voted for Trump as the best president having tripled to 36%.

Democrats showed their support for former President Barack Obama in 2018 and 2021, calling him the best president in U.S. history in both years.

In contrast, the YouGov poll says most Americans consider Trump or Obama America’s worst ever presidents.

79% of Democratic voters said Trump was America’s worst president, while 59% of Republicans say Obama was.

Overall, Trump comes in third as the best president among all Americans. Obama received first place with 18% of votes, Lincoln with 17% and Trump with 13%.
