State Department spokesman John Kirby did not know Thursday if former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton ever received security training for the handling of classified information when asked by a reporter.
Kirby told reporters at the daily press briefing that he did not have any information when a reporter asked for specifics about Clinton’s record. He said employees usually have the security training.
“I don’t have the dates on when those briefings might have happened, or if they happened, but that is not an uncommon practice, particularly for somebody at that level. And it’s usually people that work inside the Administrative Bureau here at the State Department,” said Kirby, in reference to the questions.
The question arose out of concerns raised several weeks ago that neither Clinton or her aides had received the appropriate ethics and security training.
