Sen. Graham says Dems ‘are causing the flow of illegal immigration’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) appeared on Fox News Primetime to respond to former President Trump’s statement about the border. Graham says the Democratic party created pull factors that are now “causing the flow of illegal immigration.” According to the South Carolina senator, those pull factors are amnesty, Health and Human Services processing unaccompanied minors, and catch and release.

Trump released a statement strongly discouraging Biden from adding amnesty to the reconciliation package. “If Amnesty is included in the infrastructure package, there will be a run on our Southern Border the likes of which we have never seen before,” Trump wrote. “It will be a signal that says ‘come to America now, because you will soon be a citizen.’ Providing Amnesty to illegal aliens, in the history of what already is considered the greatest Border catastrophe, will result in disaster beyond our gravest nightmares. No country can pay this price. Will lead to ruination!”

“And President Trump’s statement,” Graham said, “is dead on. If you don’t believe that giving legal status to people who have been here illegally for years without first securing the border will entice more people to come, you’re crazy. We have always done border security first.”

Meanwhile, immigration is on the rise because of these pull factors. “I have been involved in every immigration reform proposal in the last 15 years,” Graham said. “The Democratic Party agreed with me and other Republicans to spend $40 billion to secure the border in 2013. Now I can’t get them to admit that the pull factors they have created are causing the flow of illegal immigration. There is nothing changed in the triangle countries. They are no worse, they’re no better. What’s changed is we changed our policies.”
