Fox News host Sean Hannity told controversial journalist Taylor Lorenz “there seems to be a missing chip with you” Wednesday as he assailed the former New York Times reporter for her bizarre comments about accused CEO shooter Luigi Mangione.
The conservative media personality sparred with Lorenz in a tense back-and-forth over her questionable remarks about the violent death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, 50, and demanded to know if she condemned fans of the 26-year-old Mangione.
“Will you say that anyone that’s praising this guy doesn’t have a soul, a conscience and a heart?” Hannity asked Lorenz, who offered a bewildering response.
“I don’t believe in things like religious things like souls and all these things,” she said.
When Hannity repeated the question, Lorenz also went off topic.
“I believe that every one of the 70,000 Americans that die each year because of lack of health insurance also has a heart,” she said.
Hannity kept prodding her with the same question, but Lorenz deflected each time.
“When you talk about souls, that’s not really my specialty. What I do specialize in is extremism,” Lorenz before Hannity cut in with an “obviously.”
Liberals are ignorant of anything regarding self awareness or even their soul. Pathetic!
This “interview” was a total disaster. It was not a back and forth. Hannity was very disrespectful by constantly interrupting and talking over her. At least he could have listened to what she had to say. I disagree with her but would have liked to hear her responses. Hannity does this to his guests often.
Agreed, American. I saw the thing, too, and I was annoyed at Hannity even more than Lorenz. It does seem that some of her comments had been taken out of context–much like the media does with comments by conservative officials. I have no sympathy for the atheist socialist Lorenz, but my opinion of Hannity has dropped a few points.
She refused to answer the question, as her excuses were pitiful and she continued like a broken record. It’s “his” show.
I did not see the interview, I seldom listen to Hannity, as he does too much talking and talks over the guests. I’ve always thought an interview was to gain information and perspective from the interviewed, not the host. If we want to try to understand, or just learn about anything, we must listen, critically, objective, and really hearing what is being said. Otherwise we remain unknowing/ignorant of the other sides thoughts. A knowledge of what is being taught to our youth would be helpful as well. Within this younger group there is, I believe, a sense that he was “righting a wrong”, striking back at the corporate greed that places money and profit above people/humanity. I would like to hear from this young man, why he did this, what lead up to his decision, did a loved one die because care was denied? More information about Mangione is needed. It might save someone else from a similar fate. Some soul-searching is needed, for everyone.
Lorenz definitely appeared to be emotionally giddy over-the-top in her remarks about Luigi; giving the appearance of unabashed support for the guy.
That was my take as well. She doesn’t believe that she bares any responsibility for how she comes across. She’s leftist junk.
