Sarah Sanders Says Serving as Press Secretary Was “The Honor of a Lifetime”

President Trump made a surprise announcement on Twitter Thursday, saying White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders plans to leave the White House by the end of this month.

Shortly after, Sanders made her own statement at a White House event for the Second Chance prison reform initiative where she thanked the president and expressed her love for the job.

On Twitter, Trump said, “After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas. She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done.”

Trump acknowledged Sanders dedication, hard work and called her a “warrior” at the White House Second Chance event.

“This has been the honor of a lifetime … I couldn’t be prouder to have had the opportunity to serve my country and particularly, to work for this president,” she said.

According to several other current and former Trump administration officials, she will be missed.
