NOTE: The original headline for this story has been updated to reflect the statement from a source close to Donald Trump Jr.

A source in Donald Trump Jr’s inner circle says there are no concerns that he will be indicted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and that the news–first reported by Politico–is false.

The Politico report on Wednesday claimed that Donald Trump Jr. “has told friends in recent weeks that he believes he could be indicted…”

“The reports in Politico are one hundred percent false,” the source close to Donald Trump Jr. tells “Don has shown zero concern over the possibility of being indicted. Politico didn’t talk to anyone in Don’s inner circle to confirm this story.”

The reports in Politico are one hundred percent false

Trump Jr. has been under intense scrutiny ever since it was revealed that he attended a meeting in 2016 with Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya at Trump Tower in New York City. The meeting was purportedly held so that Veselnitskaya could provide opposition information on then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Congressional investigations have unearthed evidence that raises questions about whether or not the meeting was a ruse set up by Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson who was working with Veselnitskaya on U.S.-Russian adoption legislation known as the Magnitsky Act. In 2016, Fusion GPS was hired by the Hillary Clinton campaign and DNC to fund the research which produced the unverified and salacious anti-Trump dossier.

Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation is expected to–once again–dominate the news headlines now that the 2018 midterm elections have concluded. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA)–a staunch opponent of President Trump–is expected to take over as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and has promised to renew the Russia probe and make it a top priority for Democrats in the House of Representatives.
