Rep. Jerry Nadler Says Trump’s Pressure On Zelensky Was ‘A Gun To His Head’

The House Judiciary Committee is debating articles of impeachment Thursday and plans to vote later in the day. During the ongoing debate, The Committee’s Chairman Jerrold Nadler said President Trump’s pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was as if he was holding ‘a gun to his head.’

“We’ve repeatedly heard that the Democrats are accusing President Zelensky and Mr. Yermak of lying because President Zelensky said he wasn’t pressured. Well of course he said he wasn’t pressured. The United States is a powerful nation on which his nation is dependent,” Nadler said.

He continued, “He has a gun to his head. The gun is the fact that the President of the United States, upon whom he depends for military aid for help in many different ways, has shown himself willing to withhold that aid and to do other things based on what he says…based on what he’s willing to play along with the President for his personal political goals.”

President Zelensky has denied any pressure on President Trump’s part, but Nadler and his fellow Democrats are not convinced. He thinks Trump is holding a gun to his head.
