Pro-Defund the Police Gubernatorial Candidate has NYPD Detail, Lives on Military Base for ‘Affordability’
Jumaane Williams is ‘hypocritical’ for living on a secure military base, critics say

Hypocrisy is no stranger to Democrats, but New York gubernatorial candidate Jumaane Williams is sparking outrage over his. Williams, an outspoken advocate of defunding the police, is relying on…the police…to protect him as he runs for governor.
Williams not only travels with a detail of New York City’s NYPD officers, but he also lives on a military base. The military base also provides 24/7 security. Williams, a self-proclaimed racial justice advocate, was elected as the New York City public advocate in 2019 after serving on the NYC Council.
Williams lives on the Fort Hamilton U.S. Army Garrison in Brooklyn, where anyone requesting entry must submit a background check and go through security checkpoints. NYPD security detail travels with him each day, provided to him because of his position for the city.
Williams proudly describes himself as a Democratic Socialist, and his campaign website touts a vow to “bring transformational change to Albany.” When New York City agreed to cut the NYPD budget by $1 billion as a result of the defund the police movement, Williams said the cut was an insufficient amount.
To add insult to injury, Williams lives on the military base simply for its “affordability.” A representative for Williams told the New York Post “when he needed a new home for his family in 2019, they chose a publicly available unit in Fort Hamilton not because of its position on a base but because it offered the best unit for his family’s price point and criteria.”
An area official with knowledge of the base’s housing process told the Post “these aren’t apartments listed on Zillow. It’s essentially a gated community with stunning waterfront views protected by tanks and soldiers with M16s.”
Not only are our tax dollars, but also our police and military forces helping to protect and house a man who is actively working to undo it all with his liberal policies.

Controversial Remarks by Progressive Lawmaker Sparks Intra-Party Clash over Hamas’ Alleged Sexual Violence

In a recent television appearance, Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Pramila Jayapal stirred controversy and faced intense criticism from fellow Democrats for her remarks seemingly downplaying reported sexual violence by Hamas terrorists against Israeli women.
The contentious comments come amid disturbing accounts of rape and brutal assaults following Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel on October 7, with prominent Democrats expressing outrage and demanding unequivocal condemnation.
According to reports from Fox News, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz from Florida called for a forceful denouncement of sexual violence and condemning any attempt to create moral equivalence between Hamas and the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). The accusations of rape and sexual assault have sparked concern about the well-being of Israelis still held hostage by Hamas.
During her appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Jayapal faced scrutiny for not outright condemning Hamas for the alleged acts, instead emphasizing the broader impact of war on women.
Furthermore, the comments drew swift criticism, with Representative Ritchie Torres of New York insisting on the need for unequivocal condemnation of sexual violence against Israeli women.
Despite Jayapal’s history of advocating against sexual violence, her recent remarks have led to a significant intra-party clash, with Democrats challenging the notion of finding a balance or moral equivalence in addressing such sensitive matters.
The controversy underscores the complexities that arise when lawmakers navigate geopolitical conflicts while upholding principles of justice and human rights. As tensions escalate within the party, the incident highlights the broader challenges of maintaining a unified front on contentious global issues.
