President Donald Trump will address the nation Tuesday night as he prepares to leave for the U.S. Mexico border on Thursday, planning to draw attention to the national security implications of the porous border and the impact the humanitarian crisis has had on America.

Trump’s trip to the border comes more than two weeks into the partial government shut-down. Democrats have refused to allocate the $5.7 billion requested by the administration for funding and the standoff could last for months if neither side compromises.

Trump made his announcement Friday on Twitter saying, “I am pleased to inform you that I will Address the Nation on the Humanitarian and National Security crisis on our Southern Border. Tuesday night at 9:00 P.M. Eastern.”

Trump won’t cave into Democrats

The president insisted that he is not going to cave into Democrats on the decision to get the funding to build a wall. He is expected to visit the McAllen sector of Texas this week, according to law enforcement officials and reports.

“The only reason they do not want to build a Wall is that Walls Work!” Trump

House Democrats passed a bill last week to fund the Department of Homeland Security. The DHS oversees the construction of the wall but only $1.3 billion was allocated and it was  much less than the number requested by the administration.

Border Patrol agents and Immigration and Custom’s enforcement officials who spoke to SaraACarter.com said the wall is the first major step in curtailing the drug cartels narcotics and contraband trafficking the roughly 2,000 mile southwest border, as reported.

On Friday, Trump told Democrat leaders that he would keep the government shutdown until the administration receives the funding necessary to build the wall.

“The only reason they do not want to build a Wall is that Walls Work!” Trump tweeted on Sunday.

“99 percent of our illegal Border crossings will end, crime in our Country will go way down and we will save billion of dollars a year! A properly planned and constructed Wall will pay for itself many times a year!”
