Vice President Mike Pence touched down in Bogota, Colombia Monday ahead of his meeting with Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido and Colombian President Ivan Duque. In a Sunday tweet Pence said, “It’s time for a free & democratic Venezuela.”
Maduro‘s failed regime has pushed its people to a full-fledged government overthrow. The situation is dire as the people continue fighting for their lives. The US has pledged its support for opposition leader Juan Guaido.
Over the weekend, Maduro blocked US aid at the Colombian border. However, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo remained committed to the US’s pledge to support the restoration of democracy in the region. “Every option is on the table” said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace. Pompeo also said more sanctions are to come.

Maduro Halts US Humanitarian Aid
The US attempted to send humanitarian aid to the Colombian border Saturday. Maduro refused any US aid. Consequently, the action sparked clashes with security forces leaving two dead and 300 injured.
White House National Security Adviser John Bolton tweeted Saturday, “President Guaido is personally leading the effort to bring aid to the Venezuelan people. The military has a chance to protect and assist the people of Venezuela, not Maduro and a band of thieves. Choose the road to democracy.”
