Jexodus is the new movement urging Jews, especially millennials, to exit the party of the Democrats because of that party’s increasing willingness to excuse bald antisemitism amongst its ranks.

Now comes an appeal to all Jews to stand up to the Democrats’ leadership and demand they “stop this anti-Jewishness dead in its tracks.”

Therefore, in response to what it calls the failure of the Democratic leadership, the National Conference of Jewish Affairs (NCJA) has called for a sit-in at the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday, March 14, at 1:00 p.m. The sit-in will be followed by a press conference.

A letter to Pelosi will be presented at the sit-in on Thursday. The letter is signed by NCJA spokesperson Rabbi Aryeh Spero.

Bristling with anger, the NCJA wrote:

“You had a chance to stop anti-Semitism dead in its tracks. You did not. You had a chance to shut down the burgeoning anti-Jewish and anti-Israel attitudes seeping into America’s House of Representatives. But, you didn’t. You allowed anti-Semitism and toxic attitudes towards Israel as a nation to stand in the House.

“We expect more from a Speaker. You failed. You have allowed the People’s House to become a House with a distinct odor of hate. You had a chance make a righteous historic decision, but instead you chose appeasement and politics, you decided in favor of what you feel will best serve your Party’s political ambitions.”

NCJA Call Out Failed Democratic Leadership

NCJA founder and president Beth Gilinsky called out the recent failure of the Democrats to follow through on a plan to publicly criticize Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for numerous anti-Semitic slurs.

NCJA and its supporters claim the failure of Democratic leadership is exemplified by allowing Omar to sit on the coveted House Foreign Affairs Committee. This, despite Omar being a spanking-new freshman congresswoman who had already made public anti-Semitic comments and been chastised by her own local Jewish community. Next, the leadership chose to keep her on the important committee despite Omar’s repeated antisemitic insults to Jews in her very first few months in office.

Antisemitic Insults Echoed By Omar Colleagues

Omar’s antisemitic insults and ones like them have been echoed and endorsed by Omar’s fellow freshman congressional members Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Most recently, Omar claimed Jews swore allegiance to a foreign power (Israel) and that she and other members of Congress are also required to pledge fealty to the Jewish State.

Following an outcry over the perceived antisemitism, some supporters of Omar and Tlaib deflected the criticism and claimed it was racist or Islamophobic.

“We are not going to accept those accusations from elected officials, Jewish organizational leaders, the media, Hollywood, or anyone else trying to intimidate us into not saying what we have to say,” Gilinsky said.

Calling Jews who have been silent on the antisemitism espoused by members of Congress “appeasers,” Gilinsky said NCJA rejected the stranglehold on “the Jewish position” by those “who don’t have the guts to speak out or who find it keeps them in the ‘right circles’ to play along with the Islamists, socialists,” and others with whom they fervently disagree.

One example of those who enjoy being in the “right circles” and rejecting criticism of Omar is J Street, a relentless critic of Israel and Zionist Jews which wraps itself in the guise of being “pro-Israel, pro-peace.”

In Rome, the anti-Semites are afraid of the Jews, Michael Ledeen

Jews In Rome

Dr. Michael Ledeen who is currently working on a book on the history of Italian Jewry will also be speaking at the press conference following Thursday’s sit-in. Ledeen authored 38 books and will encourage American Jews to take a page from Italian Jews. Echoing Gilinsky’s call, Ledeen urged Jews to stand-up against antisemitism instead of apologizing for upsetting others.

“The Italian Jews organized and defended themselves. They were outspoken, and they won,” Ledeen told this reporter.

“In Rome, the anti-Semites are afraid of the Jews,” explained Ledeen. “Those Jews are not leaving.”

Ledeen was referring to the increasing numbers of Jews leaving their home countries due to the mounting antisemitism once again rearing its head in Europe.

Jews In England

Jews in England have been especially alarmed by a perceived surge in antisemitism normalized by the Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Some American Jews are referring to the recent spate of antisemitism emanating from newly-elected Democrats as the “Corbynization” of the Democratic Party.

The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights endorsed the Pelosi sit-in, as an appropriate response to the Democrats’ leadership “to adequately respond to the antisemitism” of Omar and Tlaib.

Further, William Donohue, the Catholic League’s president, said that Rep. Pelosi “acted cowardly by yielding to the voices of extremism in her Party.”

Donohue called the generic hate Resolution as introduced and passed a “sham.” He said, “Antisemitism is a scourge that must be stamped out wherever it exists. That it exists in the Democratic Party is obvious. It needs to be expunged without further delay.” Donohue urged fellow Catholics to “stand with our Jewish allies.”

Moreover, a D.C.-based organization, The Coalition of Pro-Israel Activists, endorsed the Pelosi sit-in. The president of COPIA, Robert Samet, believes Omar should not have been placed on the House Foreign Affairs Committee in the first place, because Omar “had a history of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic statements.”

Should Omar Be Removed From The Foreign Affairs Committee

Given that Omar has continued vilifying Jews and the Jewish State since entering Congress in January, Samet says that Pelosi and her party colleagues should have removed her from that committee. He blasted them for not doing so.

“Antisemitism has always been off limits and above politics. It is no longer. Democrats have now made anti-Semitism a partisan issue. That’s shameful,” said Samet. He told this reporter that the feeble, generic anti-hate Resolution will be taken “as a nod to [Omar] and other anti-Semites that their conduct will be tolerated.”

A letter from Dr. Judea Pearl will be read at the press conference. Pearl, a lifelong Democrat, is the father of murdered Wall St. Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. He was forced by Islamic terrorists to say, before being beheaded: “”‘My father’s Jewish, my mother’s Jewish, I’m Jewish.'” Pearl said Omar’s slurs are intended to “erode American support for the Jewish state.” He called on Pelosi to remove Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Co-sponsors of the Pelosi sit-in include the Endowment for Middle East Truth, the Center for Security Policy, the Zionist Organization of America and the Yom HaShoah Mobilization Committee.

The sit-in is scheduled to take place at Pelosi’s Capitol Office, 1236 Longworth House Office Building. Following the sit-in, Jewish and other leaders will give a press conference.
