Miss Iraq Pushes Back On Ilhan Omar Response

After former Miss Iraq Sarah Idan told “The Sara Carter Show” last week that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) “does not represent me as a Muslim, does not represent millions of Muslims Middle East”, Omar rebuked her statement in a tweet Thursday.

On Twitter, Omar wrote, “Hey, I might be wrong but I don’t think you are a #MN05 resident and like that makes me not your representative.”

Idan denounced Omar’s response in a tweet Thursday.

“Seriously Ilhan Omar this is your intellectual comeback? I sad as a MUSLIM! I don’t stand for your anti-American, anti-Semitic, Muslim Brotherhood agenda using this democracy to further YOUR & YOUR FRIENDS Islamic socialism goals of dividing & weakening our country,” Idan decried.

Rep. Ilhan Omar couldn’t be reached for comment and an automated response indicated her staff was on a retreat from Aug. 6-7, returning on Aug. 8.

Omar’s not the only one suppressing Idan’s moderate views and it’s the reason she’s speaking out. The Iraqi government threatened to cancel Idan’s citizenship after she posted a selfie on Instagram with Miss Israel at the Miss Universe pageant. She told Carter it was a show of “peace.”‘

Idan was brave to share her story. Many have threatened both her and her family. She shared this on Twitter minutes before Omar responded saying, “During a difficult time dealing with violent people & Iraqi parliament seeking to revoke my citizenship, NOT ONE LIBERAL FEMALE PUBLIC FIGURE showed any concern for my freedom & rights the way Sara Carter did. Thank you immensely for your relentless support.”

Carter jumped in to Idan’s defense Thursday on Twitter, she shared, “You are welcome Sarah Idan. Your story is very important to me. You are brave and I will continue to shed light on it.” Carter then called on the Iraqi government to come forward with the “status of Idan’s citizenship.” Then, she held Omar to account, saying, “Idan took a picture with Miss Israel and 4 that she was threatened. And also threated to have her citizenship revoked. She says she loves America but the Dems have ignored her story? What do you say to this-and why have you and others been so quiet on the matter?”
