NBA to Mark Cuban: You’re playing the National Anthem before games per new mandate
NBA billionaire Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was rebuked by the NBA Wednesday, after Cuban announced that he would no longer play the National Anthem before games. Cuban didn’t exactly explain why he had made that decision but it drew criticism from people across the country.
The NBA shot back Wednesday afternoon mandating that all teams must play the “national anthem before each game” in “keeping with longstanding tradition.”
Cuban told the New York Times sports page Wednesday that he’s “good with the decision.”
I’m grateful the crisis was resolved but it’s strange that Cuban made the decision to exclude the U.S. National Anthem in the first place.
