Meghan McCain asked Seth Meyers if he was Rep. Ilhan Omar’s publicist on his show “Late Night” Tuesday. McCain asked the question after the two shared a heated exchange over Omar’s earlier antisemitic comments.
McCain has condemned Omar’s rhetoric as “antisemitic language” on multiple platforms.
Last month, in an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, McCain was asked about the Poway Synagogue attack, to which she responded, “we should be looking at the most extremes on both sides” using Omar as an example. Omar responded to the interview, “Oh, bless her heart!”

With Seth Meyers, she did not back down from her earlier comments.
“I think it’s very dangerous,” McCain told Meyers.
McCain asked Meyers if he was “bothered” by Omar’s previous comment about 9/11 that “some people did something.” Meyers came to Omar’s defense saying her words were “taken out of context.”
McCain cited several other examples of Omar’s antisemitic language, which Meyers said was unfair to bring up after Omar apologized. In response, McCain asked Meyers “Are you her publicist?”
“I’m just someone who cares about the fact that there is someone out there who is in a minority, who has had death threats against her, and I think that we should all use the same language,” Meyers responded. “You’re asking her to be careful about her language and I would ask everybody else to be careful about theirs.”
