Former acting FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe confirmed to CBS News that he ordered the investigation into President Trump. McCabe told 60 Minutes’ Scott Pelley the probe was to  investigate the president’s ties to Russia and he revealed private discussions among senior officials to remove Trump from office.

“I wanted to make sure that our case was on solid ground and if somebody came in behind me and closed it and tried to walk away from it, they would not be able to do that without creating a record of why they made that decision,” McCabe said.

Sara Carter has investigated McCabe and the FBI’s handling of the Russia investigation for several years. She will appear on Fox New’s Sean Hannity Thursday night (tonight) at 9 p.m. EST, along with Fox News contributor Gregg Jarrett and criminal defense and civil rights attorney David Schoen, to discuss the explosive Pelley interview with McCabe.

Pelley appeared on CBS Thursday previewing the much anticipated interview with McCabe, which will air Sunday Feb. 17.

Moreover, McCabe confirmed that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein offered to wear a wire in his meetings with the President. He said Rosenstein, along with others, discussed invoking the 25th Amendment, stating the president is unfit for office.

McCabe further clarified in Pelley’s interview that the discussions were serious and not just off-hand comments made out of anger, as suggested by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. According to the New York Times and multiple sources Rosenstein had offered to wire himself to secretly record the president.

In fact, Pelley called the information ‘illuminating and surprising’ because the American people were left in the dark.

McCabe was fired in March after the inspector General report revealed he lied about leaking to the press and a criminal referral was made to the DOJ. The McCabe interview comes just before the release of his new book, “The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump.”
