Manchin Confirms ‘I Can’t Get There…This is a No” on Biden’s Build Back Better Bill

The Senate has adjourned until next year without passing Biden’s expensive “Build Back Better” bill thanks to Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia. Senator Chuck Schumer did not have the votes needed to pass the bill with Manchin holding out.

Speaking to Fox News’ Bret Baier on Sunday, Baier asked Manchin directly about his position:

Manchin: I’ve always said this, Bret. If I can’t go home and explain to the people of West Virginia, I can’t vote for it. And I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation. I just can’t. I’ve tried everything humanly possible. I can’t get there.

Baier: You’re done? This is a no?

Manchin: This is a no on this piece of legislation. I have tried everything I know to do.
The Senate has adjourned until next year.

National Review reports “Senator Manchin has said that the bill cannot exceed $1.5 trillion in size” for his support. “But the bill the House passed spends $1.95 trillion. Senator Manchin has said that he does not want to see any accounting ‘gimmicks’ underpinning the project.”

Manchin has also expressed concern that the “shell games” will “make the real cost of the so-called $1.75 trillion bill estimated to be almost twice that amount if the full time is run out.”

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) did an analysis which backs up Manchin’s assumptions. Manchin said “spending trillions more on new and expanded government programs, when we can’t even pay for the essential programs, like Social Security and Medicare, is the definition of fiscal insanity.”

If our leaders do not tell the truth concerning our expenses and taxes, then the country is lost. Where is John Galt? Working on the railroad yet?

The thing that is really screwing up the democrats is that not everyone is going along with all of their plans, regardless of how crazy they are. Manchin is throwing a wrench in their plan. He has no business being a democrat, he should switch sides and be a republican and those RINOS should become demorats.

If it’s one thing the Democrats can’t stand, it’s a Democrat bucking the system… A Democrat smarter than they are, that sees through their BS!

    Don’t trust Joe Manchin. EVER!!

I wouldn’t trust him as far as I can spit. He’s a typical democRAT and a typical politician. He wants something BIUG, and when he gets it, he’ll flip faster than a pancake at IHOP.

If he REALLY had guts, he’d walk across the aisle and caucus with the Republicans.

    PERIOD!!

White House announced $6 billion student loan forgiveness for 78,000 public service workers

United States Congress

The White House recently announced a $6 billion loan forgiveness program. Nurses, teachers and firefighters are among the 78,000 public service workers who will qualify. Fox Business reports:

Due to fixes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, workers that never received forgiveness are now having their debts partially forgiven or canceled. Only about 7,000 public service borrowers received forgiveness prior to the Biden Administration, now that total hovers closer to 870,000, the announcement said.

“Today’s announcement comes on top of the significant progress we’ve achieved for students and student loan borrowers in the past few years,” the announcement stated. “This includes: providing the largest increases in Pell Grants in over a decade to help families who earn less than roughly $60,000 a year; fixing Income-Driven Repayment plans so borrowers in repayment for years get the relief they earned; and creating the most generous Income-Driven Repayment plan in history – the SAVE plan.”

However, there is concern over fairness that older generations are still paying off student loans and could risk losing Social Security. A group of representatives wrote a letter to Congress, hoping to address the issue of seniors still paying down student loans. Currently, under the Treasury Offset Program (TOP), the government can collect funds, such as tax refunds and Social Security, to pay outstanding student loan balances, reports Fox Business.

“Under the TOP, the federal government can withhold up to 15 percent of monthly Social Security or disability benefits for defaulted student loans,” the lawmakers explained in their letter.
