Oregon local John Tate biked across America with his dog, Jax by his side raising roughly $20,000 to support veteran’s group K9s for Warriors. Tate started his journey on April 10 in Portland, Oregon and finished in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida on Tuesday. Over the course of the three month journey, Tate and Jax met veterans and visited several military monuments across America. It wasn’t the easiest trip, which Tate highlighted through a series of blog posts.
“It was emotional riding those last couple of miles. It’s hard to believe I’m actually here.”

“Some random, regular person, not from a military family, who very much appreciates and supports what they do,” said Tate to local news channel Action News Jax reporter Elizabeth Pace. “The sacrifices that our warriors have made for us, and the beautiful work K9 for Warriors does to help them get back into life.”
Here is a map he posted that showed the exact path the two traveled:
Tate raised over $20,000 during his journey to benefit K9s for Warriors. The group provides service dogs for veterans that answered the post-9/11 call to defend America, many of them, now, suffering both mental and physical disabilities.
