Vice President Kamala Harris will not be present as the greatest ally to the United States in the Middle East, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addresses Congress on Capitol Hill Wednesday. Instead, Harris will deliver a speech at the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s Grand Boulé in Indianapolis, Indiana. Fox News Digital confirmed on Tuesday that Harris would not be present for the joint session, citing a previously scheduled event in Indiana as the reason for snubbing Israel.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) labeled her decision “inexcusable,” asserting, “She will not be there because she refuses to attend. She needs to be held accountable for that.” Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) expressed her disapproval on social media, stating, “Kamala Harris is reportedly refusing to attend Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s address before Congress tomorrow. Disgraceful. She continues to show her antisemitism and contempt for the Jewish people.”

Representative Jim Baird (R-Ind.) called Harris’s absence “shameful,” and Representative Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) accused her of attempting “to appease the Democrat Party’s radical antisemitic base.” Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) also condemned Harris, saying, “Kamala Harris’ refusal to greet Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu at the tarmac is reprehensible. Her plan to boycott his joint address to Congress is shameful. It’s clear that Harris sides with the woke antisemitic members of her party. Texas will always stand with Israel.”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre defended the decision, saying that both President Biden and Vice President Harris would meet separately with Netanyahu on Thursday. “The President will welcome Prime Minister Netanyahu to the White House, where they will discuss developments in Gaza, progress towards a ceasefire and hostage release deal, and the United States’ ironclad commitment to Israel’s security, including countering Iran’s threats to Israel and the broader region,” Jean-Pierre stated. Additionally, Biden and Netanyahu are set to meet with the families of Americans held hostage by Hamas.

Neither Biden nor Harris was present to greet Netanyahu upon his arrival on Monday, with Biden still recovering from COVID-19 in Delaware. This absence has been noted by critics, further fueling accusations from Republican lawmakers that the current administration is not adequately supporting Israel.

Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) criticized Harris for “cowering to the radical left’s antisemitism,” and Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) pointed out the broader trend among Democrats, stating, “Kamala Harris didn’t greet Prime Minister Netanyahu yesterday when he landed. She’ll skip his joint address to Congress. And other Democrat senators are planning to skip it as well. Republicans stand with Israel. The Left doesn’t.”
