Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) told Sara A. Carter on Friday during “The Sara Carter Show” that when the intelligence community used bias against then-candidate Donald J. Trump, they set the tone for what could happen to the American people.
“If this can happen to a president of the United States, they can do it to anyone.” said Rep. Jordan.
It’s only a matter of time before the American people will hear about the findings investigated by Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz, Jordan told Carter. The report, which probed the alleged Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuses by the FBI, is complete and under review by Attorney General William Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray.
“I have a great deal of confidence in the Attorney General,” said Jordan. “I’ve been impressed with the way he’s handled himself the professional manner he’s handled himself.”
‘Think about Jim Comey’
Likewise, Jordan shared his confidence in Horowitz, however, he told Carter he’s not confident that the Democrats who control the “house committees of jurisdiction” will do what is right.
Jordan said the right thing would require House Oversight and Reform committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) to hold hearings on the report’s findings.
“They didn’t even have hearings on the [James] Comey report,” he said, referring to the former FBI director. “Yeah, I’m afraid they’re not even gonna have hearings on the bigger report coming on the broader concerns on what happened at the FISA Court.”
“Think about Comey,” said Jordan. He urged the American people not to forget that it was the director’s decision to start what Sara Carter has called “soft-coup” on Trump.
He noted that it was Comey who started the coup by hiring former FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok to head the investigation into Trump. Strzok was later fired by the Deputy Director of the FBI.
He added that it was the FBI, with Comey and Strzok at the helm, who allowed an unverified dossier from former British MI-6 spy Christopher Steele that was used as the bulk of evidence in the FISA warrant to spy on members of the Trump campaign.
Moreover, it was also senior intelligence and law enforcement personnel, who worked in the Obama Administration, that appeared to be involved in leaking classified information to the media.
Quoting from a letter submitted by the President Trump’s lawyer Emmet Flood to Barr, Jordan remained the public, “if this can happen to a president of the United States, they can do it to anyone.”
