Ivanka Trump: Impeachment ‘Energized’ Pres. Trump and His Base
In a teaser for an upcoming interview with CBS’s “Face The Nation,” White House Senior Adviser Ivanka Trump said impeachment has only “energized” President Donald Trump and his base. The President’s daughter also noted that the process has been highly partisan.
“He’s energized as are 63 million plus voters who elected him to office. This is historic, as you note, in many ways including the fact that it is the first purely partisan impeachment,” she told host Margaret Brennan.
President Trump spoke to his supporters in Battle Creek, Michigan Wednesday night as the U.S. House of Representatives was voting to impeach him.
“He said it didn’t even feel like he’s being impeached. There’s tremendous energy on his side. Look, it is pretty unprecedented that support for impeachment has decreased over time as more information was presented to the American people. It’s decreased, not increased,” she said.
The House passed two articles of impeachment against the President Wednesday night charging him with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. In her father’s view, she said, it’s all “raw, partisan, politics.”
Ivanka concluded, “So with all of this time spent, with all of these witnesses who didn’t have firsthand knowledge, with all of these people that have been paraded in front of the American people, support for this action has decreased.”
The full interview will air Dec. 29.
