The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has reported “wide-scale strikes” against Iranian targets in Syria responsible for firing several rockets into Northern Israel overnight. The attacks started Monday when the IDF reported four rockets that were launched into the north from Syria.

Israel says that Iranian Quds Force and Syrian army are responsible for the attacks.

“I have made it clear that whoever hurts us – we will hurt him. This is what we did overnight vis-a-vis military targets of the Iranian Al Quds force and Syrian military targets in Syria after a barrage of rockets was launched at Israel. We will continue to vigorously maintain the security of Israel,” Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement.

IDF forces took swift action to neutralize the threat. During the Israeli strike, Syrian forces fired a missile, which led to the destruction of their aerial defense batteries.

“We hold the Syrian regime responsible for the actions that take place in Syrian territory and warn them against allowing further attacks against Israel. We will continue operating firmly and for as long as necessary against the Iranian entrenchment in Syria,” the IDF said in a statement on Twitter.

Eleven people were killed in the strike, according to Britain’s Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The group also reported that the casualties likely included seven Iranians and two Syrian civilians.
