Israel has foiled a massive attack by Hezbollah, which was believed to have targeted both northern Israel and a military basewhich is the headquarters of Mossad and several Israeli intelligence units. While Hezbollah claims that the failed attack was in retaliation for Israel killing arch-terrorist Fuad Shukr(rumored to be Hezbollah’s second-highest ranking leader), Hezbollah has attacked Israel nearly every day since October 8.

To foil the attack on Israel’s north, the IAF used over 100 planes to take out over 1000 Hezbollah rocket launchers in Lebanon.Additionally, Israel was successful in intercepting “all” of Hezbollah’s drones that had targeted “strategic targets in the center of the country,” including what is believed to be the above-mentioned military base.

In response to the pre-emptive attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned both Hezbollah and Iran leadership that the response was “not the end of the story,” and similar to statements made by the IDF’s chief of staff, stressed that Israel’s response was “…another step to changing the situation in the north and returning our residents safely to their homes.” Bibi also warned that “whoever harms us, we harm them.”

From relative comfort and security in Doha, Hamas falsely claimed Hezbollah’s attack as a success, stating “We emphasize that this strong and focused response, which struck deep inside the Zionist entity, is a slap in the face.” Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah also claimed that the attack was delayed to keep Israel on its toes and to await the outcome of the ceasefire negotiations, and hinted at future attacks. The leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) stated shortly before the failed attack that “You will hear good news about revenge, God willing.”

Meanwhile, Israel continues to neutralize Hezbollah terrorists – it has killed 427 of them, as well as 73 terrorists from other groups in Lebanon, since October 7. In addition to those eliminated since my last update, Israel has killed at least sixHezbollah operatives, including Muhammad Najam and Saeed Mahmoud Diab, who were key figures of Hezbollah’s southern Lebanon rocket and missile unit. Israel also recently seriously wounded a Hamas official in an attempted assassination in Lebanon.

Experts have lauded Israel’s pre-emptive attack as Israel’s most significant response to Hezbollah since October 8, and the beginning of Israel’s regaining sovereignty of its north, where many of its citizens have evacuated due to the Hezbollah threat. Hopefully this well-coordinated and executed operation will mark the turning of the tide of the war, and the beginning of the end for Hezbollah.
