It is suspected that “Iranian elements” mocked the family of Gaza hostage Lori Albag when a graveside style wreath was reportedly sent to her family’s home in Moshav Yarhiv.
The funeral flowers were attached with a note saying, “May her memory be a blessing, we all know that the country is more important.” Israeli internal security services suspect the culprits have Tehran ties.
Albag was taken prisoner by Hamas terrorists while she was serving as a surveillance soldier at the Nahal Oz IDF base. Authorities still believe the 19-year-old to be alive as some of the released prisoners have reported her being moved to various private households in Gaza.
Foreign Desk News reports Liri’s sister Roni told the Walla! news site that the local security officer found the offensive package and took it to the police, in order to avoid her family having to see it. She later described the ordeal as “horrifying” and that it “makes me sick.”
Israel’s Hostage and Missing Families Forum released a statement after the incident announcing, “The Hostages Families Forum Headquarters strongly condemns this violent behavior towards the Albag family. Led by our Head of Security and in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, an investigation into this matter will be launched to the fullest extent of the law.”
