Impeachment Vote Proves Dems have ‘declared open war on American Democracy’
Democrats are impeaching President Donald Trump Wednesday strictly on partisan lines. The vote today is historic and it will leave a haunting legacy for Democrats who attempt to subvert the will and vote of the American people through the impeachment process.
It is also a sad day for America, as the bar has been lowered on the impeachment process and it is being used as a tool to target Trump with no actual evidence that he did anything wrong.
Yes, it is a “declaration of open war on American Democracy” as President Trump told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in his letter Tuesday. He is right. He warned Democrats in the letter that they will face the retribution of the American people in the 2020 election.
“You are the ones interfering in America’s elections,” Trump told Democrats. “You are the ones subverting America’s Democracy. You are the ones Obstructing Justice. You are the ones bringing pain and suffering to our Republic for your own selfish personal, political, and partisan gain.”
The majority of Americans are not fooled. They see through the charade and the evidence is mounting against former senior Obama Administration officials and against the Democrats who are on an expedition in search of a crime, or anything, to make their very bad decision to impeach Trump stick. It won’t.
For example, just last week, Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz released his scathing report on the FBI’s investigation into Trump and the debunked theory he colluded with Russia. The roughly 500 page report revealed the depths to which former FBI officials investigating the Trump campaign subverted their own policies and the law in their efforts to target Trump.
For the first time, the American people were able to see how far corrupt senior FBI officials went in an effort to spy on Carter Page, a short term volunteer for the Trump campaign. Horowitz revealed that the bureau violated more than 51 Woods Procedures, lied to the court and omitted significant information that would have more than likely changed the court’s decision to allow the FBI to monitor Page’s communications.
On Tuesday, Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court Judge Rosemary Collyer, the presiding judge over the secret court, sent an order from the court to the FBI. She chided the FBI for misleading the court, altering documents and withholding exculpatory information. She demanded that the bureau implement changes and reforms in its FISA process by her Jan. 10, deadline.
The FBI stated Wednesday to this reporter that it has already implemented 40 changes and many others changes beyond the recommendation of Horowitz.
But is that really enough. An American was illegally spied on and now we must ask ourselves was he the only one. The process is so secret that we may never know how many other Americans have had baseless warrants that allowed the bureau to spy on their communications.
Where is the outrage by the FBI? Where is the outrage from Democrats? Why are they impeaching a President with no evidence of a crime, instead of doing their job and getting to the bottom of what happened in the Obama administration by officials who violated the Constitutional rights of an American in an attempt to remove a sitting president?
Why isn’t FBI Director Christopher Wray screaming mad about these failures and ensuring the American public that it will never happen again?
Wray’s interview Monday with ABC, was more than disappointing, because he made it seem like these senior FBI officials made procedural errors. No folks, these errors were not procedural they violated the constitutional rights of an American citizen and exposed serious malfeasance within the FBI. What happened to Page can happen to any one of us.
President Trump’s letter to Pelosi is on the mark. The Democrats have purposefully ignored the very real evidence that allowed spying on an American citizen who worked in a presidential campaign. Further, the evidence shows FBI officials, and bureau sources, also leaked false and erroneous information about Trump and those in his campaign to the media. That information not only damaged the lives of those involved, but exposed how easily the system can be gamed by those in power.
It was done to undermine the American people and the 2016 presidential election.
Trump points out that the Democrats falsely invoke the founding fathers to justify their impeachment against him. “You dare to invoke the Founding Fathers in pursuit of this election-nullification scheme—yet your spiteful actions display unfettered contempt for America’s founding and your egregious conduct threatens to destroy that which our Founders pledged their very lives to build,” said Trump in his letter.
And as the House Democrats cast their votes for impeachment on this historic day, remember this any victory will be short lived. Impeachment will die in the Senate but the Democrats decision to impeach a president will be judged harshly by history.
The Democrats partisan legacy will be that they weaponized impeachment as a tool against a sitting President they have wanted to remove since he took office.
“Any member of Congress who votes in support of impeachment—against every shred of truth, fact, evidence, and legal principle—is showing how deeply they revile the voters and how truly they detest America’s Constitutional order,” said Trump. “Our Founders feared the tribalization of partisan politics, and you are bringing their worst fears to life.”
