“Maybe folks should boycott his show,” said Rep. Rashida Tlaib, (D-MI) referring to comedian Bill Maher’s HBO talk show after he criticized the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement, calling it a “bulls— purity test.”

“I am tired of folks discrediting a form of speech that is centered on equality and freedom. This is exactly how they tried to discredit & stop the boycott to stand up against the apartheid in S. Africa. It didn’t work then and it won’t now,” continued Tlaib in her twitter statement.

In his show Bill Maher was referring to Rep Ilhan Omar’s past comments, in which she suggested that “Jews control the world, control the money,” he said that that kind of rhetoric might have played a part in “why they [squad] don’t get a hero’s welcome.”
