The Israel Defense Forces arrested three Palestinians Sunday trying to enter Israel carrying a grenade and “arson materials,” according to the Times of Israel. The group, from Gaza, is now in custody and will face questioning by Israeli authorities.
Arson materials have been commonly used by Palestinians in Gaza this year to terrorize Israel and its people. Last month, Palestinian arsons started nearly 30 fires across Southern Israel using incendiary balloons. Following the event, the Knesset and Hamas reached an agreement to end such arson attacks, however, Sunday’s interception indicates it’s still happening regardless. In response to the ongoing attacks, Israel has limited resources it regularly provides to the Gaza strip such as gasoline and a coastline for fishing in the Mediterranean Sea.
On Monday, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence renewed America’s support for the state of Israel at the Christians United for Israel summit in Washington. There, he said, “The United States of America will never compromise the safety and security of the Jewish State of Israel.”
