How China’s Expanding Oppression Impacts Your Life
Freedom is most precious to those who have lost it, and Sara has listened to many stories from those who have escaped repression or have fallen into it. It started long before she was a reporter. She grew up hearing about acts of courage against the communists in Cuba from her own mother. And today, standing up to the power and control of the Chinese Communist Party requires a tremendous amount of bravery.
Sara has visited with the freedom fighters from Hong Kong and beyond. She knows their stories and the courage it takes to stand up to the merciless control of the CCP.
We’ve seen China crush the freedoms of its own people in Hong Kong. It’s now expanding that repression to neighboring counties, and it’s been happening here in the U.S. for a long time too. Major corporations, sports leagues, and Hollywood studios all pathetically grovel before Beijing in order to squeeze every possible dollar out of the Chinese market. Meanwhile, all of those entities refuse to condemn China for its concentration camps against Uighur Muslims, slave labor, or religious persecution. And the Biden administration doesn’t seem serious about confronting any of this behavior either.
Sara also welcomes activist Yoko Ishii to share the story of China literally trying to stamp out the native language in Mongolia, replace it with its own, and imprison those who resist. They also discuss Beijing’s efforts to control other nations, including Japan. And the strategy looks awfully similar to what we’re seeing China do here in the U.S.

Sara’s Urgent Message: We Have A Country to Save & We Can’t Save It Without Your Help

At the end of every episode, Sara reminds us that each of us needs to stand up, speak out, and find others who will join us in the urgent work of protecting our most cherished freedoms, our precious children, and our very way of life. But what exactly does she mean by standing up and speaking out? What does that look like?
She’s thought about it a lot. And in the past week, she’s given speeches to very prominent groups in Texas and in Washington, D.C. The message is simple but urgent. Everyone must step up to save this nation, and, yes, that means you!
Sara shares how our veterans and Gold Star families have given so much to preserve this nation and how she watched members of our Armed Forces giving their last ounce of devotion to their brothers in uniform and the nation they love. We should never sit back and assume our military, some politicians, and prominent activists will fight all of our battles for us. Each of us has a voice and the freedom to speak out about what we believe and why it’s important. And we need every single like-minded voice to be part of this fight – not just in the weeks leading up to Election Day but every day of the year.
Our freedoms are under assault every day by people and groups who want to uproot the foundations of our great nation. They are not going to stop unless the silent majority becomes the unsilent majority and every single one of us speaks up for what we know is right.
