Installment 8 of the Holy Week article series, titled “Light in the Shadow of the Cross.”
ByWendy Kinney| Exclusive for SaraACarter.com
It carries the full weight of Resurrection Sunday and ties together the themes we’ve built all week—persecution, power, and the unstoppable Kingdom of God.
———-
He is risen. He is risen indeed.
The stone has been rolled away. The tomb is empty. The grave has no claim.
Death is crushed. Sin is shattered. Hell has lost.
Jesus Christ—the Son of God, the Savior of the world, the King of Kings—is alive.
He is not buried. He is not broken. He is not hiding. He reigns.
The powers of darkness did everything they could.
They tried betrayal. Accusation. Torture. Crucifixion.
They tried to seal the tomb with stone, soldiers, and silence.
But they couldn’t stop glory.
They couldn’t stop the One who holds the keys to death and hell.
The King has risen. And His reign has begun.
He didn’t rise and disappear.
He stayed. He walked. He appeared. He restored.
For forty days, the risen King moved among them.
He walked with two on the road to Emmaus and set their hearts on fire.
He appeared in locked rooms and breathed peace over their fear.
He let Thomas touch His scars—not to prove weakness, but to prove love.
He ate with them. Taught them.
And reminded them: “All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to Me.”
The resurrection wasn’t a single moment. It was a forty-day reign of presence and commissioning.
He didn’t just rise. He remained—until it was time to send the Church in His name.
And today—He still walks.
Not in the garden or on the road to Emmaus,
But through His Church. Through His Spirit.
Through every believer who stands in the fire and says, “Jesus is Lord.”
He is risen—and so are they.
They rise in Nigeria, where churches are burned and still they worship.
They rise in Iran, where pastors are imprisoned and still they preach.
They rise in China, where underground believers memorize Scripture in the dark.
They rise in Congo, in Pakistan, in North Korea, in Syria—
Because the resurrection lives in them.
The tomb was not rolled away for comfort.
It was rolled away to unleash the Gospel.
This is the power that hell can’t stop.
Not with prison. Not with propaganda. Not with fear.
Because when the stone was rolled away, the Kingdom of God broke open. And it’s still moving.
So now, Church—what will we do with this resurrection?
Will we whisper it?
Will we bury it beneath fear, comfort, or cultural convenience?
Will we pretend Easter is pastel and polite—about chocolate bunnies and brunch?
Or will we rise?
Because this is not just a holy day. This is a holy uprising.
The tomb is empty. The King is alive. And the Church is unstoppable.
So rise up.
Speak truth.
Stand for the persecuted.
Live like the stone was really rolled away.
Because it was.
And nothing has been the same since.
He is risen.
And He is coming back—not in silence, but in glory.
Until then, we don’t wait quietly.
We live boldly.
The grave is behind us.
The Kingdom is before us.
And the risen Christ goes ahead.
The King reigns.
