Harris Presidency Would Be Disaster for US-Israel Relations

A Kamala Harris presidency would be a disaster for the US-Israel alliance. On the issues, Harris:
Would entertain an arms embargo on Israel. While Harris’ campaign staff claims that she is opposed to an arms embargo on Israel, the Uncommitted National Movement with which she recently talked claims that Harris had “…shared her sympathies and expressed an openness to a meeting with Uncommitted leaders to discuss an arms embargo.” Her campaign’s promise to “…continue to engage with those communities” suggests that the issue of an arms embargo is on the table.
Has a warped view of Hamas’ war against Israel. On the Gaza war, Harris stated: “The images of dead children and desperate hungry people fleeing for safety, sometimes displaced for the second, third or fourth time. We cannot look away in the face of these tragedies. We cannot allow ourselves to become numb to the suffering and I will not be silent.” Harris continues to fixate on “civilian casualties” and “the need to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.” But she does not mention Hamas’ continued use of Gazan civilians as human shields, that the Hamas-generated casualty count is a fraud, that claims that there is imminent famine in Gaza are false, and the multiple times Hamas has stolen aid intended for Gazan civilians.
Harris called for an “immediate ceasefire” at least as early as March, and more recently told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that “it is time to get this [ceasefire] deal done.” This tactic of course fails to acknowledge that a ceasefire would embolden Hamas, and the logical and moral problems with:Hamas’ demands that Israel release terrorists (and arch-terrorists) with blood on their hands in such a deal, and putting pressure on Israel to strike a deal with an organization that has long preached genocide against Jews and Israel and that has promised many more October 7 attacks with the intention of destroying Israel.
Supports the nuclear deal with Iran. Harris opposed President Trump backing out of President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran, and stated when she ran for president in 2019 that she would re-instate the nuclear deal.
Appeases baseless hatred against Israel. Regarding a response to a student in George Mason University in 2021 calling Israel’s actions against the Palestinians a “genocide,” rather than condemn this canard, Harris stated “…your voice, your perspective, your experience, your truth cannot be suppressed, and it must be heard.” This demonstrates that Harris is enabling such false beliefs.
Opposes Israel from exerting sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. Harris opposes Israel’s “settler expansion” into and potential unilateral annexation of Judea and Samaria, despite Israel’s inalienable right to build and govern there. Harris is also on the record supporting a two state solution, which presumably would be at the expense of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria.
Non-committal about maintaining US embassy in Jerusalem.Kamas previously did not respond when asked if she would move the U.S. embassy back to Tel Aviv after President Trump moved it to Jerusalem. This was a flip-flop of a previous position, where she had voted for a 2017 Senate resolution calling on President Trump to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.
On the issues, past statements strongly suggest that if elected president, Kamala Harris would be hostile to Israel. Rather than emphasizing fighting terrorism and checking Iran’s power, a Harris presidency would be poised to appease the enemies of the United States and Israel alike.

Canada Beefs up Border Security After Trump Threatened Sweeping Tariffs
In November, president-elect Donald Trump announced on social media that he would impose a 25% tariff on all products from Canada and Mexico if they do not take an active role in containing illegal immigration as well as the level of illicit drugs entering into the United States.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Trump at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, after which the Canadian government vowed to secure the border. “We got, I think, a mutual understanding of what they’re concerned about in terms of border security,” Minister of Public Safety Dominic LeBlanc, who accompanied Trudeau at Mar-a-Largo, said of the meeting in an interview with Canadian media. “All of their concerns are shared by Canadians and by the government of Canada.”
“We talked about the security posture currently at the border that we believe to be effective, and we also discussed additional measures and visible measures that we’re going to put in place over the coming weeks,” LeBlanc continued. “And we also established, Rosemary, a personal series of rapport that I think will continue to allow us to make that case.”
The Daily Caller News Foundation reports the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is preparing to beef up its immigration enforcement capabilities by hiring more staff, adding more vehicles and creating more processing facilities, in the chance that there is an immigration surge sparked by Trump’s presidential election victory. The moves are a change in direction from Trudeau’s public declaration in January 2017 that Canada was a “welcoming” country and that “diversity is our strength” just days after Trump was sworn into office the first time.
The Daily Caller notes the differences in response from the Canadian government verses Mexico’s:
Trudeau’s recent overtures largely differ from Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, who has indicated she is not willing to bend the knee to Trump’s tariff threats. The Mexican leader in November said “there will be a response in kind” to any tariff levied on Mexican goods going into the U.S., and she appeared to deny the president-elect’s claims that she agreed to do more to beef up border security in a recent phone call.
