Michael G. Flynn Jr., the son of President-elect Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor, is no longer working with the transition team, Trump aides told reporters Wednesday.

Taking Twitter heat

Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn has been taking heat for dubious comments and ‘fake news’ posts on Twitter made by his son. Flynn Jr. took a job with his father after Gen. Flynn retired from the Defense Intelligence Agency and began his own company, Flynn Intel Group, a registered security and lobbying firm.

Flynn Jr. continued to work with his father after the presidential elections and had a transition team email address.

“The younger Michael Flynn was helping his father with some administration and scheduling duties early on in the transition process, now he’s no longer involved with transition efforts,” Jason Miller told reporters on a conference call Wednesday.

The scrutiny comes after Flynn Jr.’s tweet regarding a ‘fake news’ story about a sex trafficking ring being operated at a pizza restaurant in Washington DC. Flynn Jr. used #Pizzagate, which refers to the bogus news story about a sex trafficking ring in Washington connected to Hillary Clinton and her campaign chairman, John Podesta.

Flynn Jr. was once again scrutinized on Sunday after a North Carolina man walked into that same Washington restaurant carrying an AR-15 rifle and firing a shot before being arrested.  The suspect had been reading some of the ‘fake news’ stories regarding the pizza restaurant on social media sites.

The Initial Tweet

Flynn Jr.’s initial tweet was in response to a tweet his father posted. However, the senior Flynn was not tweeting about #Pizzagate. He had posted a link to the right leaning website Truepundit.com, which said sources in the NYPD have turned over a newly-found laptop to the FBI regarding the investigation into former Congressman Anthony Weiner’s alleged sexting with underaged girls.

Here’s Flynn senior’s tweet.

On Wednesday, Vice President-elect Mike Pence, who heads the transition process, told MSNBC’s Morning Joe that “[Flynn Jr.] has no involvement in the transition whatsoever.”
