Fauci: Possibility of mandatory vaccines for school and travel ‘will be on the table’

By Ben Wilson

In a new interview with Newsweek, infectious disease expert and mainstream media heartthrob Dr. Anthony Fauci said “I’m sure” certain institutions will require vaccines. He added it is “quite possible” that a mandatory vaccination against COVID-19 will be required for foreign travel.

In the interview, Fauci was asked if he would potentially introduce COVID-19 passports and mandatory vaccinations at a local level—especially in schools—in his upcoming position as chief medical advisor for Joe Biden, to which he replied, “Everything will be on the table for discussion.”

“It’s not up to me to make a decision. But these are all things that will be discussed” in a Biden administration, as reported by Newsweek.

“I’m not sure it’s [the COVID-19 vaccine] going to be mandatory from a central government standpoint, like federal government mandates. But there are going to be individual institutions that I’m sure are going to mandate it,” he said.

The options are on the table—all while Dr. Fauci is currently in hot water for admitting to not telling the truth about the percentage of Americans that need to receive the coronavirus vaccine to reach herd immunity.

As previously reported by SaraACarter.com, Fauci admitted to The New York Times that he was not completely honest in a late December interview.

At the beginning of the pandemic, Fauci said 60-70% of the American public must receive the vaccination to achieve herd immunity, but as more Americans oppose the idea of getting the vaccine, Fauci slightly increased his percentages, telling the Times that achieving herd immunity would require 90% of the American public to take the vaccine.

“When polls said only about half of all Americans would take a vaccine, I was saying herd immunity would take 70 to 75 percent … Then, when newer surveys said 60 percent or more would take it, I thought, ‘I can nudge this up a bit,’ so I went to 80, 85. We need to have some humility here …. We really don’t know what the real number is. I think the real range is somewhere between 70 to 90 percent. But, I’m not going to say 90 percent,” Fauci said.

In terms of Fauci’s new revelations, he suggests that mandatory vaccination for schools and travel is on the table but a nationwide requirement is unlikely—unless he plans to move the goalpost up on this as well.

“That is possible but that’s something that’s mandated at the state level and city level. A citywide school system might require it in some cities but not other cities. And that’s what I mean by things not being done centrally but locally,” Fauci said.
