In the United States today, faith is under open assault. Across American college campuses, antisemitic mobs are emboldened. Churches are defaced, Christian values scorned, and Jewish students driven into fear and isolation. The targets may differ, but the hatred is the same—and it is spreading. The rise in hate is unmistakable—but so is the silence. While faith comes under fire at home, most leaders hide behind platitudes or politics. But one man stands without apology: President Donald J. Trump. In an era when moral courage is rare, President Trump’s unwavering defense of both Christians and Jews sets him apart—not only as a political leader, but as a defender of religious liberty when it matters most.
A Rising Tide of Hate
In 2024, the United States experienced a record-high 9,354 antisemitic incidents, averaging more than 25 incidents daily—over one per hour—according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). This marks a 5% rise from 2023 and an 893% increase over the past decade, making it the highest annual total since the ADL began tracking in 1979. Notably, for the first time, a majority (58%) of these acts were tied to opposition to Israel and Zionism, amid widespread campus and street protests following the October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel.
Christian communities have also faced a disturbing rise in hostility. Between January 2018 and November 2023, at least 915 acts of hostility occurred against churches in the United States, including vandalism, arson, gun-related incidents, and bomb threats. In 2023 alone, attacks on U.S. churches more than doubled, with at least 315 occurrences of vandalism, 75 arson attacks or attempts, 10 gun-related incidents, 20 bomb threats, and 37 other incidents.
And yet, the numbers only tell part of the story. What’s now unfolding on American college campuses is shocking in its boldness and deeply disturbing in its acceptance. Students chant “From the river to the sea”—a phrase many don’t even understand, but which calls for the eradication of Israel. At universities like Columbia, Harvard, and Yale, protests glorify terrorism, demonize Jews, and welcome speakers who openly celebrate Hamas. The hate is not hidden—it’s embraced. And what’s worse: it’s being cheered on by faculty, shielded by administrators, and protected by courts. President Trump’s call to deport pro-Hamas agitators like Mahmoud Khalil was met not with bipartisan concern, but with legal blocks and media defense.
Many institutions continue to look the other way—choosing avoidance over accountability, and silence over truth. The media downplays the severity, universities often fail to protect vulnerable students, and faith leaders may issue tepid responses. This collective inaction contributes to an environment where hatred can flourish unchecked—and where truth becomes the casualty.
President Trump’s Stand for Religious Liberty
In response to these escalating threats, President Donald J. Trump has taken decisive action to protect religious freedoms. On May 1, 2025, during a National Day of Prayer event at the White House, he signed an executive order establishing a Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty. This commission, chaired by Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and vice-chaired by Dr. Ben Carson, is tasked with identifying threats to religious communities and advocating for religious freedom both domestically and internationally.
The commission includes notable figures such as Archbishop Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Rev. Franklin Graham, and Dr. Phil McGraw, reflecting a broad coalition committed to safeguarding religious liberties.
Additionally, President Trump has initiated a Department of Justice task force aimed at eradicating anti-Christian bias within the federal government. This task force, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, held its first meeting in April 2025 and is focused on identifying and addressing gaps in laws and enforcement that have contributed to anti-Christian conduct.
Taken together, these initiatives underscore President Trump’s commitment to confronting religious hatred and ensuring that the United States remains a nation that upholds the freedom of belief for all.
A Call to Action: Defending Faith in America
The surge in antisemitic and anti-Christian incidents across the United States is not just a series of isolated events; it’s a clarion call for all Americans to stand up for religious freedom and the values that underpin our nation. President Trump’s proactive measures are bold and necessary—but they cannot stand alone.
This battle cannot be fought by government alone. Communities, churches, and individual citizens must rise together to foster an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Educational institutions should reinforce the importance of religious tolerance, and law enforcement agencies must be vigilant in protecting all citizens from hate crimes. Moreover, faith leaders across denominations should unite in condemning acts of hatred and promoting messages of peace and unity.
In these challenging times, silence is not an option. As history has shown, indifference can be as dangerous as the acts of hatred themselves. It’s imperative for every American to recognize the threat that religious intolerance poses to our society and to take a stand against it.
Because if we fail to speak now, we risk losing not only our voice—but the God-given freedom entrusted to us. This is not just a political crisis—it is a spiritual one. And in moments like these, silence is not neutrality—it is surrender. May we never be a people who shrink back in fear when God is calling us to stand.
