“America’s comeback starts right now.” That was former President Donald Trump’s message as he announced he is officially running for president in 2024 Tuesday evening.

Speaking to a packed ballroom live from Mar-a-Lago, Trump stated, “Ladies and gentleman, distinguished guests and my fellow citizens, America’s comeback starts right now.”

“The world was at peace, the country was prospering and we were on track for an amazing future,” Trump said. “Under our leadership we were a great and glorious nation. We were a strong nation and a free nation. But now we are a nation in decline. We are a failing nation.”

He claimed that he built the wall at the southern border, even though it remains unfinished, after which he clarified that he wants to continue to add onto it. Trump suggested the U.S. should model its drug crime enforcement on China’s authoritarian system and hand out the death sentence for dealers. In the same breath, however, Trump slammed President Xi Jinping, who he called the “king” of China.

Sam Brinton, the Biden administration’s deputy assistant for spent fuel and waste disposition at the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy has been charged with a very bizarre crime.

Allegedly Brinton purposely stole a woman’s Vera Bradley suitcase worth $2,325 from the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport’s baggage claim.

Brinton is one of the federal government’s first gender non-binary officials who uses they/them pronouns. Court filings state that surveillance video showed Brinton grabbing the luggage and removing the owners ID tag.

Brinton then used the Vera Bradley suitcase on at least two occasions; one while traveling to Washington, DC, on Sept. 18 and the second on Oct. 9, investigators say.

Initially, Brinton denied stealing the suitcase to police officers. They later claimed it was taken by mistake, although it was still  in their possession.
