Rather than vigorously push for an arms embargo and sanctions on Iran and its axis, Democrats and several countries are choosing to turn on Israel by pushing for an arms embargo on the Jewish State.

The Biden administration threatened Israel with an arms embargo if it did not improve the humanitarian situation of Gaza in 30 days. A private letter from Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken to this effect was made public via social media, where the two secretaries told Israel to adopt 15 policy changes on how it wages its war in Gaza or face an arms embargo. “This was a letter we considered a private diplomatic communication, and we did not intend to make it public from our side, but now that it is public, I’m happy to confirm it,” State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller quipped passive-aggressively.

In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held an emergency meeting to discuss increasing aid to Gaza, and Miller stated that Israel has implemented some “immediate changes.” Israel also allowed 50 aid trucks to enter northern Gaza.

The idea of pushing an arms embargo on Israel is now gaining traction among Democrats. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has threatened to bring a resolution to the Senate to block “offensive arms sales” to Israel, accusing Israel of engaging in a “cruel and illegal war” and accusing Bibi of “starv[ing], kill[ing], and orphan[ing]” Palestinians. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also called for an “arms embargo” of Israel, stated that Netanyahu is “unrestrained,” and that Israel is committing a “genocide of Palestinians.” Rep. Ilhan Omar called for an “arms embargo NOW,” a tweet that Rep. Rashida Tlaib re-tweeted. In April, 37 Democrats in Congress, including Reps. Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, and Tlaib, but also including Nancy Pelosi, Pramila Jayapal, Jamaal Bowman, Ayanna Pressley, and Cori Bush, wrote to President Biden demanding an arms embargo on Israel.

Meanwhile in Europe, Germany has been a rare example of standing with Israel, as Germany’s foreign minister affirmed that her country will continue to sell arms to the Jewish State. But the rest of the continent is content with throwing Israel under the bus during its existential seven-front war.

French President Emmanuel Macron called for an end of arms sales to Israel, while the French foreign minister opposed the sale of “offensive weapons” to the Jewish State. Further, Israeli defense companies will be banned from attending the Euronaval Defence Expo in Paris in November.

Spain’s Prime Minister has called on the world to impose and arms embargo on Israel, and for the EU to rescind its free trade agreement with the Jewish State. The European Left has also called on the European Union to impose an arms embargo on Israel. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni admitted that Italy imposed an arms embargo on Israel weeks after Hamas’ October 7 attack.

And Jordan, who signed a peace treaty with Israel, who cooperates with Israel on intelligence and counterterrorism, and who Israel saved from invasion by Syria in 1970, has called for a “complete arms embargo on Israel.”

Like in 1948, 1967, and 1973, Israel again faces arms embargos while trying to manage a war of survival. But despite the overwhelming odds, Israel is again on a path to victory against its foes.
