CNN medical analyst says ‘it’s time to start mandating vaccines’

CNN medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner reacted Thursday to Dr. Anthony Fauci’s report that 99.2% of COVID-19 deaths were unvaccinated people. Reiner wants to see the private industry mandate vaccines.
“I do think it’s time to start mandating vaccines,” Reiner told host Erin Burnett on Out Front. “And I think that private industry and private organizations will do that.”
Not to mention some workplaces have already implemented a mandate. “At [George Washington] University, where I work, starting this fall, you can’t be on campus unless you’re fully vaccinated,” Reiner went on. “Look, I think that we’re at part of the pandemic now where the problem in this country is that 150 million Americans are not vaccinated. Half of that number is less than 18 years of age. But let’s look at the adults. 75 million adults have chosen not to get vaccinated. That choice has consequences.”
However, even he recognized that people can’t be forced to receive the COVID vaccine. “Now, we can’t force you to take a jab in the arm,” Reiner said. “But there are many jobs, perhaps, that can prevent you from working if you decide not to get vaccinated. So, I think we need to be more proactive and we will see industry take the lead in this.”
