Chicago Violence: Teen Charged With Attempted Murder After Shooting Girl, 7, Who Was Trick-Or-Treating

A 15-year-old boy was charged with attempted murder Sunday after shooting a 7-year-old girl who was trick-or-treating in Chicago‘s Little Village neighborhood, according to ABC7. The shooter was said to be shooting at rival gang members when he shot the young girl. A male, 31, was also shot in the attack. Both victims survived the attack.

“The shooting yesterday was reprehensible and those involved don’t deserve to be in our city,” Superintendent Eddie Johnson said on Friday. “I am disgusted but committed to doing everything we can to finding the cowards that would engage in a gun battle in the early evening hours while children were trick-or-treating.”

Fifteen people were shot in the city of Chicago in what was another deadly weekend for the city, according to the Chicago sun Times. Four people were killed, while eleven others were wounded, according to the paper.

One of the victims, a 16-year-old female was shot on the city’s West Side on Sunday afternoon. Police said two men exited an SUV and shot the young girl twice in the stomach. She was later taken to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
