A group of Chicago police officers turned their backs on the city’s controversial Mayor Lori Lightfoot over the weekend. They shunned the Mayor in response to the tragic shooting death of a female officer over the weekend.

Officer Ella French, 29, was fatally shot during a West Englewood with traffic stop Saturday night, according to reports. She had a two month old baby. Her partner and fellow officer is fighting for his life.

Violence in Chicago continues to escalate and unfortunately, Lightfoot passes the blame onto everything but her own failed Democratic policies.

Lightfoot was trying to speak to the officers as they waited at the University of Chicago Medical Center, reports stated.

According to reports a spokesman for Lightfoot said she was there to offer support and condolences to the families involved.

But the statement said, “In a time of tragedy, emotions run high. That’s to be expected.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with Florida state health officials, are investigating what is believed to be a case of monkeypox. A statement from the Florida Department of Health in Broward County stated the “case is related to international travel, and the person remains isolated.”

Late Friday a New York City resident also tested positive for the virus that causes monkeypox, and is the state’s first confirmed case. On Sunday, President Joe Biden made his first public statements about the outbreaks, saying the recent spread of monkeypox in at least 12 countries are “something that everybody should be concerned about.”

Axios reports a person was confirmed positive with the virus in Massachusetts, New York and “roughly a half dozen other cases” are “being monitored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
