Rep. Jim Banks, R-IN, introduced a resolution Tuesday to condemn the Chinese government for its handling of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a Fox News Exclusive.

The resolution asserts that China “made multiple, serious mistakes in the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak that heightened the severity and spread of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which include the Chinese government’s intentional spread of misinformation to downplay the risks fo the virus, a refusal to cooperate with international health authorities, internal censorship of doctors and journalists and malicious disregard for the health of ethnic minorities.”

Banks and Rep. Seth Moulton, D-MA, have garnered a group of bi-partisan lawmakers including Reps. Kevin Hern, R-OK, Austin Scott, R-GA, Trent Kelly, R-MS., Brian Babin, R-TX, Barry Loudermilk, R-GA, Adam Kinzinger, R-IL, Greg Steube, R-FL, Larry Bucshon, R-IN, Mike Rogers, R-AL, Dan Crenshaw, R-TX, Mike Gallagher, R-WI, Kelly Armstrong, R-ND, Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-PA, Rep. Michael Waltz, R-FL, and Jason Smith, R-MO to support the action.

Since the coronavirus began in Wuhan, China, the Chinese Communist Party has done almost anything to suppress and control the flow of information. It did so by ousting foreign reporters, disappearing citizen journalists and shifting the blame for its genesis to the U.S. government. For example, they’ve used state media outlets to proclaim the virus a ‘Trumpandemic’.
