Bill Gertz reveals China’s nefarious biowarfare campaign: ‘They’ve discovered 2000 new viruses’

Sara Carter was joined by China expert and national security reporter Bill Gertz on the “Sara Carter Show” podcast Thursday. Gertz discussed the origins of COVID-19 and revealed shocking information about China’s discovery of thousands of other viruses to Carter.

Slightly over a year ago, Gertz published a report in The Washington Times titled “Virus Linked to Wuhan Lab, Military Work at Wuhan Lab.” The article was based on an interview with a former Israeli military intelligence doctor who had studied the Chinese biological warfare program.

The former Israeli military intelligence doctor told Gertz during the interview that the Wuhan Institute of Virology is linked to the People’s Liberation Army, the Chinese military, and suggested that the coronavirus could have been leaked from that lab.

During this time, China was blaming the cause of the virus on an animal market in Wuhan, about five miles away from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, according to Gertz.

Gertz’s article, complete with the interview from the former Israeli military intelligence doctor, was labeled as a “debunked conspiracy theory” by USA Today and “false information” by Facebook. The article was then removed from The Washington Times‘ website.

Earlier this month, the State Department revealed information that confirmed the claims in Gertz’s article were true.

“Well, fast forward to January 15 of this month, and the State Department, in a very detailed fact sheet, revealed that yes, indeed, as I reported a year ago, the Wuhan Institute of virology is not only linked to the People’s Liberation Army, the Chinese military, but that they have been conducting secret biological warfare experiments at the laboratory since at least 2017,” Gertz told Carter.

More information continues to be released verifying the information in Gertz’s article, but Facebook has not removed the “false” label from his work.

“It’s been a battle but truth will out,” Gertz said. “I’m confident that when the dust settles on this, my story will be recognized as having been one of the first to say that this is one of the two paths that this pandemic began and the most likely path in my personal view for where the virus began.”

Gertz says that the Chinese Communist Party is controlling the media and we need to hold them accountable for their actions.

“If you look at our mainstream media today, there’s almost no mention of the fact that this virus came from China. And in fact, China’s narrative is that it didn’t come from China.”

“Chinese are spending billions of dollars annually to influence the United States,” Gertz said. “And how do they do that? On the on the media front, they control a lot of the media, by access to China. Any major news organization that wants to have a bureau in China will have to be compliant with Chinese narratives … We’re now suffering the consequences of this, because they have also exploited the business community by saying, if you want to do business in China, not only do you have to go along with us, but you have to actually lobby the U.S. government and the U.S. public to support our policies.”

“How do we get this information out and in people’s consciousness?” Gertz questioned. “How do we get our leadership and our lawmakers and our and our other government people to do something about it?”

Gertz is concerned about the Biden administration’s involvement.

“The Biden administration, I’m very much afraid that they’re going to cover up what China has, has done and is doing.”

“Joe Biden ran for President on the fact that he criticized the Trump administration’s response to the pandemic. And then what did he do? He hired Anthony Fauci, who is leading that pandemic effort. So that just shows the level of hypocrisy now in government is at very high levels,” Gertz said.

“The Trump administration was battling the bureaucracy, both the intelligence and the political bureaucracy, at state and other agencies. They wanted to release all of this information,” Gertz said.

Gertz told Carter he talked to intelligence officials within the Trump administration who revealed to him that the Chinese biological warfare program is focusing on developing ethnically targeted weapons that can kill or disable specific ethnic groups.

According to Gertz’s reports, China has bragged publicly that they have discovered 2,000 new viruses.

“Not all of them are bad coronaviruses. There are other animal viruses as well, but they’ve discovered 2000 new viruses,” Gertz said. “So China is obsessed with viruses. And this is a clear indication that they and they’ve and they’ve had lab leaks in the past.”

Gertz is shocked that the information he has been uncovering is not getting more attention in the media.

“The fact that our media and our government is not demanding a full accounting of all the research, all the notes, all the researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Neurology is criminal,” Gertz said.

“The Chinese government is a nuclear-armed communist dictatorship, a genocidal regime, and they are responsible for the destruction that we’re seeing around the world economic and human, and they need to be held accountable,” Gertz added.

“We’re battling for our country, and we’re battling for our freedom. China’s in the background, they’re fueling it, they want to see the United States decline and ultimately destroyed.”

Pentagon Report Reveals China’s Rapid Nuclear Expansion, Doubling Previous U.S. Estimates

Published

China’s nuclear arsenal has surged to over 500 warheads—more than double the previous U.S. estimate—according to a newly released Pentagon intelligence report. This “rapid expansion” is raising alarm among U.S. officials as Beijing aggressively accelerates its military capabilities and steps up hostilities toward allied states in the Pacific.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reports that in 2020, the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) assessed that China had amassed roughly 200 nuclear warheads and projected that the count could reach 400 by 2030. But the latest findings show China has already far exceeded that estimate, and the Pentagon now believes China could have over 1,000 operational warheads by 2030.

According to the report, China’s current nuclear build-up represents the most rapid and ambitious modernization effort in its history, indicating the nation’s long-term strategy for sustained competition with the U.S. and signaling an operational readiness for intensified strategic concepts. China’s arsenal, composed of various nuclear warheads, can be launched from a range of platforms, including submarines, ground-mobile systems, and aircraft. The DIA report also notes that China is building additional facilities for the production of fissile materials to further scale up its nuclear arsenal.

The report suggests that China remains committed to a “no first use” nuclear policy—meaning it would only launch a nuclear strike in retaliation. However, China’s “launch-on-warning” policy enables it to strike back preemptively if it detects an incoming attack.

“China is fielding new nuclear capabilities at a faster pace than at any time in its history,” the DIA report reads, emphasizing the military’s objective to achieve parity with the U.S. nuclear arsenal. Despite Beijing’s statements about maintaining a defensive posture, the Pentagon warns that China’s rapid nuclear advancements could lead to an increased risk of miscalculation.

The Pentagon report highlights China’s growing capability and confidence, suggesting that Beijing’s bolstered nuclear deterrence over the next decade could embolden its leaders. This, in turn, increases the risk of miscalculations and escalations as the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) builds up the capability to counter the U.S. across various domains.

A spokesperson from the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. downplayed concerns, pointing to America’s extensive nuclear arsenal as a primary security risk. “China is committed to a defensive nuclear strategy and a policy of ‘no first use’ of nuclear weapons and keeps our nuclear capabilities at the minimum level required by national security,” the spokesperson told the DCNF.

The report also reflects a lack of transparency in U.S.-China relations, with military talks largely suspended since 2022 and only resuming recently. This limited communication between the nations further fuels apprehension within the international community.

China’s nuclear expansion aligns with its broader military ambitions under President Xi Jinping, who has ordered the PLA to be prepared for a possible invasion of Taiwan by 2027. Although the U.S. maintains a “strategic ambiguity” policy toward Taiwan—meaning it does not disclose how it would respond to a Chinese invasion—the potential for conflict has heightened as China’s military power grows.
