Chief Patrol Agent Rosario “Pete” Vasquez thanked the border patrol agents for their vigilance, noting that because of them, “these dangerous narcotics were prevented from reaching our communities.”

“Our agents work tirelessly day in and day out to protect this nation, and this seizure highlights that crucial commitment,” he added.

Officials said that the cocaine was immediately turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, according to ABC News. An investigation is ongoing.

At this time, authorities have not revealed how the bags got there or who they might belong to nor if any arrests have been made in connection with the discovery.
