AOC backs Pelosi’s decision to ban GOP Reps

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) is standing by Speaker Pelosi’s (D-CA) decision to reject Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN) from the Jan. 6th commission. Ocasio Cortez says that Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) recommended Jordan in the first place to “make a mockery” of the investigation.

“I think that McCarthy’s decision to seat Jim Jordan was intentional and he’s trying to make a mockery,” AOC said in a press scrum Wednesday outside the Capitol. “Like most of his other work, make a mockery of pretty much everything he touches.”

Then, Pelosi herself doubled down in a press conference Thursday. The speaker defended the decision, claiming that she’s not being discriminatory because Troy Nehls (R-TX) remains on the commission despite having voted against ratification for the 2020 election.

However, “the other two made statements and took actions that made it ridiculous to put them on such a committee seeking the truth,” Pelosi said. Throughout the presser, she never used the names of the lawmakers.

Meanwhile McCarthy responded by calling Pelosi a “lame-duck Speaker” in a tweet. “This is the People’s House, not Pelosi’s House,” the minority leader tweeted.
